Three Methods of Charging Panasonic Batteries
Time:2019-02-23    Source:    Views:2160
There are three commonly used charging methods for Panasonic batteries:
1. Pulse charging
A simple and economical method is to charge Panasonic batteries by low voltage AC rectifier with secondary output of transformer into pulsating DC (without filter). This method has a large charging current and a fast charging speed. The disadvantage is that when the voltage of power grid fluctuates, the charging current fluctuates. It is easy to cause Panasonic batteries to be damaged due to the high charging current, the rise of battery temperature and the large loss of electrolyte. In this case, Panasonic batteries are seldom used and are not recommended.
2. Charging with Constant Current
In order to prevent Panasonic battery temperature rise too high and electrolyte loss too large, charging current is adjusted relatively small, the charging time is longer, on the other hand, charging time is too long, overcharge will occur, in order to prevent damage to the battery due to overcharge, it is necessary to set up overcharge detection or timing circuit, which also has its drawbacks. Generally, it is not recommended to use this charging method.
3. Constant Voltage Charging
Both theory and practice have proved that constant voltage charging is safe when charging voltage is lower than the upper limit of charging voltage (for 12V batteries, this value) and even if charging time is long, it is not dangerous. If necessary, Panasonic batteries can also work in floating charging state. This is the most safe and effective charging method at present. Panasonic batteries recommend using this method of charging.
